D. How to create filters and apply them.
-----------------------------------------
   1. After completing step C and you have clicked on the Create Filter button
(I will refer to it as Create Filter button). A dialog box will open asking
you to name a new filter. You can add a name or click cancel to open existing
       filters.

   2. Create Filter/Query dialog box is open and ready to create a filter.

   3. Go click on the Field Name drop down box and choose a field.

   4. Go click on the Comparison drop down box and choose a compare operator.
** Note: When comparing a text field use Like if you don't know the name
       ** exactly.

   5. Go enter text in the "Compare to" field.

   6. Repeat instructions 3-5 for each row in the filter dialog box as needed.

   6. The first line of drop down boxes should be filled before any others.
After the first line or row is filled you can fill in the others leaving
some blank and the filter will still work.

   7. Error messages will come up if your filter is not correct. By correct
I mean you have compared a number field to text or other bad comparisons.
Refer to Microsoft Access help on Apply Filter.

   8. Try clicking the "Apply Filter" button when you have entered a filter.

   9. The Create Filter/Query dialog box closes and the filter is applied to the
form's data. Your filter's data in the Create Filter Dialog Box is saved
       each time you enter one.

   10. Notice the buttons on the left of each row. If clicked they will delete
the corresponding row data. This is for convinience in creating filters.

   11. For more info on creating filters look in the Microsoft Help or go to the
next section for tips on creating filters.

E. Tips on creating queries and filters.
------------------------------------------

   1. Yes/No types: When creating a filter that has a field with the Yes/No type,
you should put in the "Compare To" field a -1 for Yes and 0 for No. This
may seem weird, but I didn't create Microsoft Access. You will get errors
if you put Yes or No in the "Compare to" edit box. If you use Microsoft's
filter interface it will react the same way.

   2. Compatability: When creating filters, Create Filter/Query will react the
same way as Microsoft Access filter to incorrect comparisons. In the end
the filters come out very similar if not the same if created in either place.

   3. Text Types: Use the keywork like int he "Comparison" drop down box if the "Field Name"
you chose is of text type. You can use the = operator if you know the exact
name, but it is not as convinient. When using the like keyword you should
put a * in the text you put in the "Compare To" edit box. Example: "John*"
if you are searching for say Johnsons.
