Getting Started Guide:

This Program will run on any Windows 95-98, WinNT, 200X, XP system,
without having to install it to the hard drive, if all the files are
copied onto a CD Rom. It will also run from any hard drive. Some
companies do not allow games on their computers. Copying it to a CD-
ROM will allow you to run the game, without any evidence being left
on the computer.

If you wish you can rename the "Pitch5Pt" (Directory Or Folder), but
do not change the "cards" Folder or any of its *.gif files as it will
crash the Program.

The only hard drive space necessary is the ShortCut.lnk and a small
file on the C: drive, telling the program where to find the "cards"
folder each time the program is opened. filename = "Cardloc.dir"
InstallIcon.exe will place an Icon on the Desktop directing it
to the Pitch.exe program, if desired.

The program itself has game rules and an overview, six different card
back styles are available, a Demo Play that will play all four players
on its' own, and an option to view all cards while playing the game.

Click on Pitch.exe to start game, or the Install.exe to place a Desktop
Icon on the Desktop screen.

                            GAME OVERVIEW
Each player receives six cards, dealt two at a time. The turn to deal
rotates clockwise after each hand.
Bidding
There is one round of bidding. The possible bids are two, three, four and
five. Each player in turn either passes or bids higher than the previous
bid if any. The final bidder has the right to name trump, the person
following the dealer leads the first card.
If the first three players pass, the dealer must bid at least the minimum
bid of two. This is called a "force bid".
Draw
After trump is declared, players discard any cards they don't want face
down, and the dealer replenishes their hands to six cards from the remaining
portion of the deck. It is illegal to discard trump, and normally, players
will discard all their non-trump cards in the hope of replacing them with
trump. This makes it more likely that the ace, two, and jack will end up in
play.
Play
The player following the dealer leads the first card, any suit may
be lead. Trump may be played at any time. The winner of each trick
leads the next, and may lead any card. A player who has a card of
the suit led must either follow suit or trump. Players may play trump
on any trick, even if they can follow suit. A player who has no cards
of the suit led can play anything - either a trump or a card of another
suit. Each trick is won by the highest trump card played, or if there
are no trumps in it then by the highest card in the suit led.
Scoring
Each of the items High, Low, Jack Off-Jack and Game is worth one point.
Winning the Game
In order to win, a team needs at least 11 points, if both teams have 11
points then a playoff will follow.
