It creates an active area which detects and reacts to mouse motion and clicks. Gifs, jpegs and animated gifs can be attached to the active area. Both Java 1 (JDK 1.1) and Java 2 (JDK 1.2 and 1.3) are supported.

CaptionView encapsulates all facilities of a classic awt Button and swing JButton, adding the ability to use a skin (an image, or an animated image) which changes according to the mouse movement and clicks.
The main advantage of this bean is that it does not implement classes provided by the javax.swing package. Thus, it can be used successfully with older Java Development Kits and inside applets. This avoids the installation of a Java Runtime Environment Plugin for your browser, which takes a considerably long time to load and is not as widespread as we would like.
The functionality of a classic button combined with the look of a professional design guarantees an easy implementation.

The currently available functionalities are:
  • Mouse Motion Detection - changes the status when the mouse moves over the active area
  • Animated gifs - loads gifs and/or animated gifs according to mouse status
  • Button/JButton - encapsulates all features of these jdk classes
  • JDK 1.1 compatibilty - it does not implement features of javax.swing package
  • Image Caching - optimizes image transfer from the server.
