                      AnnWebLinks 1.5
                    Annotated Web Links
            Copyright 2005 by David Wincelberg

I. Introduction
I frequently receive authorized e-mail messages that
contain links to senders' Web sites along with information
about the links. If I don't want to go to the sites right
away, I could save the messages. However, doing so results
in messages piling up in my in-box. Alternatively, I could
save the links and associated information in a text file.
This might work but may result in a cluttered file.
Instead, I developed AnnWebLinks.

Although this program is designed to launch a browser, it
can also launch local applications such as a word processor
when the link field contains the full name (including the
path) of a document file.

This program requires Windows 95 or Windows NT 3.51 with
I.E. 3.0 or higher and does not contain any adware or
spyware.

II. Getting Started
To install this program, run SETUP.EXE. See Install.txt
for more information.

The first thing you will notice is the Tip of the Day. It
displays useful information about using this program and
what it does. For example, the first tip suggests
importing favorites or bookmarks from your browser. Other
tips highlight special features, such as the program not
waiting for your browser to respond after you launch a
link. As a result, a browser crash will not cause
AnnWebLinks to freeze.

To save an annotated web link in the program, copy or type
its title, link and description into the corresponding
fields. You may want to copy all of the information into
the Description field and move the relevant parts to the
other fields. Select or type a category and press the Add
button. As you can see by pressing the Options button, the
program is initially set to save information on disk after
five presses of the Add or Modify buttons.

When you want to retrieve an annotated link, find it in the
list of links and click on it. Doing so will fill in the
Title, Link, Description and Category fields. In addition,
the last-modified date will be shown. If you double click
on an annotated link, the program will also launch the
link. This will usually invoke your default browser.
However, other programs can also be launched.

You can sort on a single column by clicking on a button
above the list of links. (Sorting on multiple columns is
also available by pressing Ctrl+M.) You can search for
annotated links by typing into the Search field. Note that
you do not need to press a button to start searching.
Searches are updated after each change to the Search field.
The Next button will be activated if there are several
matching annotated links.

After clicking on the Options button, you can adjust what
the program does. For example, the program can move the
first and last lines of the Description field to an empty
Title or Link field, respectively. You can adjust which
fields are searched and activate typo-insensitive
comparisons.

See Changes.txt for a list of the improvements made to
AnnWebLinks, such as the undo/redo/preview feature. For a
demonstration of using AnnWebLinks, press Ctrl+R or load
TestDrive.html into your browser.

III. Why Register
There are various reasons to register this program:
a) Once you register and enter the activation code into the
program, you will be able to use it after 30 days-of-use.
b) You will be eligible for a reasonable amount of e-mail
technical support.
c) Your improvement suggestions will have higher priority.
d) You will be rewarding and encouraging development of this
program.

The registration fee is $10. See section V of
AnnWebLinks.txt for instructions.
