Please read the LICENSE file before using Appointment Reminder freeware.

There is a release for version 5.0. Releases for older versions may be easily
added in the future depending on demand.

* Requires Windows XP, Windows 2000 Professional, or Windows NT Workstation 3.5 and later.
Future Windows 98 support depends on demand.

B) TESTED PLATFORMS

Lotus Organizer files of version 6.1 on Microsoft Windows XP SP2.

C) INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

	i) Create program folder

Unpack the contents of the downloaded file to a specific location.
For instance: c:\Program Files\Appointment Reminder

ii) Access to Lotus Organizer DLLs.

It is necessary that the program can find the following DLL files provided with
Lotus Organizer: ORGAPI32.DLL y LTSCSN13.DLL. Get the folder location where these
files appear, for instance C:\lotus\org6\compnent and C:\lotus\org6\organize, and
add them to the system environment variable PATH.

To change the PATH variable in windows XP:

1.- Right Click on My Computer -> Properties
2.- Advanced tab. Button "Environment variables"
3.- In "System variables" double click "PATH"
3.- Add at the end of the "variable value" (separated by a semicolon if
needed) the folder location of the said DLL files.

	iii) Password protected Organizer files

If the Lotus Organizer file that you want to use is password-protected run
the PWFGEN tool (that has a padlock icon). Enter a password with 'reader'
rights of the organizer file. The 'owner', 'assistant' and 'reader' passwords
are valid. The PWFGEN tool (Password File Generator), generates a PWFILE.DAT
that contains an encrypted version of the given password codified by a standard
symmetric cryptographic algorithm.

Password lenght is limited to 32 chars.

iv) Create the shortcut in the Start Menu.

The Appointment Reminder command line is:

AR.EXE <org-file> <days> [/p]

Where:
<org-file>	is the Lotus Organizer file path.
<days> is the notice time to warn appointments beforehand.
/p Indicates a password protected organizer file.

A detailed procedure for Windows XP for the shortcut creation is provided. The
procedure may be adapted if necessary to the other variants of the Windows
operative system.

1.- Right click on the start menu and select open.

2.- Navigate to "Program" and then to "Startup"

3.- Right click on the startup, click on "new" and on "shortcut".

4.- To the question "Type location of the item", click the "Browse" button.

5.- Navigate to the AR.EXE file located in the unpacked folder.

6.- Choose the name that will appear on the start menu and create the shortcut.

7.- Locate the Lotus Organizer file that contains the calendar to monitor
(for instance, C:\lotus\work\organize\myplan.or6)

8.- Right click on the created shortcut, click properties.

9.- In the "target" field do not delete the contents, and add a space and
the full path of the organizer file located in step 7 between quotes, for
instance "C:\lotus\work\organize\myplan.or6".

10.- Add another space, and the number of days of notice time, to
warn for appointments beforehand.

11.- If your organizer file is password-protected, add another space
and append /p

Then one must have, in the 'target' field, for instance:

"C:\Program Files\Appointment Reminder\ar.exe" "C:\lotus\work\organize\myplan.or6" 3 /p

Done!

D) UNINSTALL

Delete the start menu shortcut, and delete the unpacked folder.
